Super Eagles to Face Russia in October International Friendly

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have announced that the three-time Africa Cup of Nations champions will face Russia in an international friendly in October.

The fixture will form part of Nigeria’s preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers as the Super Eagles continue their build-up for the qualification campaign. Nigeria and Russia last met in a friendly in Moscow in June 2025, with both sides playing out a 1-1 draw.

Eric Chelle’s side will begin their AFCON 2027 qualifying campaign with a home fixture against the Barea of Madagascar on Friday, 25 September. Matchday two of their AFCON 2027 qualifying campaign will see them face Guinea-Bissau on Tuesday, 29 September.
