Karl Etta Eyong suffers injury at Levante
The Cameroonian international was injured on Friday during a training session with his Spanish club.
This injury prevented Karl Etta Eyong from playing in Levante’s La Liga match against Málaga on Sunday 6 September. However, medical tests have confirmed a muscle injury.
Karl Etta Eyong has, in fact, sustained an injury to the rectus femoris muscle in his right leg, Levante announced in a statement on Monday 7 September. The Spanish club did not, however, specify how long the Cameroonian international would be sidelined. His return to action will depend on how his condition develops, Levante said.
This injury is bad news for Cameroon. It comes just as Karl Etta Eyong has been called up by the Indomitable Lions’ manager, David Pagou, for the upcoming international break.
If the Cameroonian striker does not recover soon, David Pagou will have to manage without him. Cameroon face the Comoros on 24 September at the Roumde Adjia Stadium, and Congo on 29 September in Brazzaville during the first two matchdays of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The Indomitable Lions will also play a friendly against Ivory Coast on 3 October.
