Pape Thiaw in mourning following death of his father

Former Senegal head coach lost his father, Mamadou Thiaw, on Wednesday 14 October.

This is yet another blow for Pape Thiaw, former head coach of the Lions of Teranga. The Senegalese manager, who had already lost his mother in August 2025, is facing a second bereavement within the space of a year.

The death of Mamadou Thiaw was confirmed by the Senegalese Football Federation, which was keen to express its solidarity with the manager. In its message of condolence, the governing body of Senegalese football offered its condolences to Pape Thiaw and assured him and his entire family of its support and deep sympathy.

“The Senegalese Football Federation offers its sincere condolences to Mr Pape Thiaw, former national team manager, following the passing of his father.

“At this painful time, the FSF extends its support and deepest sympathy to him and his entire family.

“May Allah SWT welcome him into His Paradise and grant his family the strength and patience needed to overcome this loss.”
