AFCON 2027 qualifiers: Mamadou Sarr ruled out of Senegal’s double-header against Sudan
Mamadou Sarr will be unable to take part in the Lions of Teranga’s next training camp as part of the third and fourth matchdays of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The centre-back picked up the injury during Real Sociedad’s 1-1 draw with Lyon on 5 November in the Europa League. The Spanish club announced in a statement on Saturday 7 November that Mamadou Sarr has sustained a calf injury.
However, Real Sociedad did not specify how long the Senegalese player would be out of action, stating that his return to competition would depend on how his injury progresses. This is bad news for Senegal as they prepare for their double-header against Sudan.
Called up by manager Patrick Vieira, Mamadou Sarr has been ruled out and will therefore be unable to play in the two matches on matchdays three and four of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The Teranga Lions’ manager will have to reassess his defensive options ahead of the matches against Sudan on 12 and 16 November.
