A new face has joined the Lions of Teranga. Massiré Sylla, who plays for Union Saint-Gilloise, has been called up to the Senegal national team for the first time.

The defender replaces Mamadou Sarr, who has been forced to withdraw after sustaining a calf injury during a match with Real Sociedad. He thus joins the squad of 25 players selected by Patrick Vieira for the double-header against Sudan, scheduled for 12 and 16 November.

Senegal will play these two matches as part of the third and fourth matchdays of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. For Massiré Sylla, this call-up represents his first opportunity to prove himself in the national team’s colours.

Senegal have recorded one draw and one win in their first two matches of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The Lions of Teranga will be looking to improve on that record in the next two fixtures.
