Algerian triumph in Africa! USM Alger defeat Mamelodi Sundowns to win the CAF Super Cup for the second time
USM Alger have been crowned 2026 CAF Super Cup champions. In the final, held at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria, the Algerian club comfortably defeated Mamelodi Sundowns 3-1.
The visitors opened the scoring in the fourth minute through Droui. In the 25th minute, Reiners converted a penalty to restore parity, but Radouani put the Algerians back in front just before the break. Khaldi sealed the final score in the 55th minute.
Despite Mamelodi Sundowns enjoying a significant share of possession, USM Alger were far more clinical in attack and made the most of their chances.
For the Algerian club, this is the second CAF Super Cup in its history. The team first won the competition in 2023, defeating Egypt’s Al Ahly 1-0. USM Alger have now successfully repeated their previous triumph.
Mamelodi Sundowns, meanwhile, failed to claim their second trophy in the competition. The South Africans won the Super Cup in 2017, defeating TP Mazembe 1-0.
