Senegal concern as Krépin Diatta forced off injured for Watford
Having been forced off through injury whilst playing for Watford, the Senegalese midfielder is causing concern just days before the Lions of Teranga training camp for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Krépin Diatta was forced to leave the pitch in the 14th minute of the match between Watford and Middlesbrough, played on Saturday 7 November as part of Matchday 15 of the Championship. This early exit has raised fears that the Senegalese international may be ruled out.
This comes just days before the Lions of Teranga are due to gather to face Sudan on 12 and 16 November, for the third and fourth matchdays of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. At present, the nature and severity of Krépin Diatta’s injury are not yet known. Senegal is therefore holding its breath as it awaits reassuring news about its player.
A potential withdrawal would be another major blow for the Senegalese national team, which is already having to cope without Mamadou Sarr. The defender has been ruled out after sustaining a calf injury whilst playing for Real Sociedad.
