No long break for the show. FIFA confirms halftime duration for World Cup final
FIFA has finally settled on the halftime duration for the World Cup final. Despite a grand musical show, the break between halves will only be extended slightly.
According to Marca, the official regulations sent to broadcasters set the halftime interval at 18 minutes and 30 seconds, instead of the usual 15 minutes. So, the extra time amounts to just three and a half minutes.
During the break, fans can look forward to a musical performance lasting 11 minutes and 30 seconds. Earlier reports suggested that global stars like Shakira, Madonna, and Justin Bieber could take the stage. There had even been rumors that the halftime could be doubled to accommodate the concert, but FIFA decided against such a plan.
In addition, organizers have arranged a large-scale closing ceremony for the tournament. It will kick off 80 minutes before the match, with American artist Post Malone among the performers.
The World Cup final between Argentina and Spain will take place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford. The opening whistle is set for Sunday at 21:00 Central European Time.
