Insane stats you won't believe! Who is dominating the World Cup?
Argentina has turned reaching World Cup finals into a habit.
Details: After a dramatic 2-1 victory over England, the reigning world champions have booked their place in the 2026 World Cup final, where they will face Spain on July 19. For La Albiceleste, this is their second consecutive final and their third in the last four tournaments.
The stats become even more staggering when you look at a longer stretch. Since the 1978 World Cup, there have been 13 editions of the tournament, and Argentina has reached the final in six of them—1978, 1986, 1990, 2014, 2022, and now 2026.
During this span, Argentina has lifted the trophy three times—in 1978, 1986, and 2022. They fell short in two other finals, and the fate of the sixth will be decided in the upcoming showdown with Spain.
It's worth noting that the upcoming match will be Argentina's seventh World Cup final appearance in history. The team played their very first final back at the inaugural tournament in 1930.
Reminder: An Argentine becomes the best player of the last two World Cups! And it's not Messi!
