Made his decision. England national team star responds to question about ending international career
England defender John Stones has made it clear he has no plans to retire from international football after the World Cup. Speaking at the pre-match press conference ahead of the third-place play-off against France, the 31-year-old emphasized his ongoing commitment to the national team.
"I'm not planning to stop playing for the national team any time soon," Stones said.
The central defender admitted he is still struggling to come to terms with the 2-1 semi-final defeat to Argentina. According to Stones, the squad truly believed they could reach the final, so the elimination came as a heavy blow.
It's worth noting that the third-place match between England and France could mark Stones' 95th appearance for the national side. The defender is currently a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Manchester City.
