For the first time in a long while, Gianni Infantino's influence could be under serious threat.

Details: According to Mundo Deportivo, citing journalist Ben Jacobs, several UEFA member associations are searching for a unified candidate capable of challenging the current FIFA president in the upcoming election. One of the main names in these discussions is PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

It is reported that Al-Khelaifi's candidacy is ready to be supported, in particular, by the football federations of Belgium and Poland. However, the head of the Parisian club has not officially announced his intention to run—so far, this is only about a possible nomination.

Meanwhile, high-ranking football officials from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Norway, Sweden, Germany, and Spain are discussing other European contenders. Among them is Dariusz Mioduski, owner of Warsaw's Legia.

Dissatisfaction with Infantino's leadership has intensified after the scandal surrounding the red card given to US national team forward Folarin Balogun. Following a review, UEFA publicly accused FIFA of crossing the line.

Despite the growing opposition in Europe, Infantino's position remains strong thanks to support from other confederations. Therefore, the emergence of a challenger does not necessarily mean the current FIFA chief will lose his post.

Reminder: Infantino plans World Cup 2030 reform. What changes are on the horizon?
