Germain Berthe, a former goalkeeper for Eagles of Mali, has died at the age of 32.
Malian football is in mourning. The country has lost one of its former internationals whilst he was still playing for US Bougouni, a club in the local league. Germain Berthe died on Friday 17 July 2026, according to the Malian press.
However, the cause of his death has not been disclosed. Germain Berthe had made seven appearances for the Mali national team. Notably, he took part in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations with the Eagles.
The late goalkeeper had also played for Mali’s U20 and U23 national teams.
