MLS Week 15 Recap: Chucky’s Heroics & Messi’s Magic

Matchday 15 brought pure MLS chaos: dramatic comebacks, last-minute goals, and big names rising to the occasion. From Atlanta’s long-awaited win to Messi rescuing Miami in Philly, the league delivered a rollercoaster weekend.
In Charlotte, Wilfried Zaha finally made his mark with two assists in a 3-2 win over Columbus, linking brilliantly with Patrick Agyemang, who scored twice and earned a USMNT call-up. Out west, Chucky Lozano delivered a 95th-minute winner for San Diego in the SoCal derby, completing the season sweep of LA Galaxy with a goal, an assist, and relentless work rate.
In Philadelphia, Inter Miami looked doomed again—down 3-1 with 15 minutes left. But Messi turned the tide with a thunderous free kick before assisting the equalizer, salvaging a 3-3 draw and setting a club record for latest comeback.
Atlanta snapped their eight-game winless streak with a 4-2 win over Cincinnati, while Brian White (Vancouver), Sam Surridge (Nashville), and Agyemang (Charlotte) all netted braces. Vancouver rallied from 2-0 down at RSL, but Yeimar’s injury in Seattle cast a shadow despite Rusnák’s match-winner.
Elsewhere: Chicago unraveled with two red cards, Austin stole a point in Minnesota with a textbook counter, and NYCFC took full advantage of a Fire collapse to win 3-1. San Jose and Houston offered a glorious 3-3 mess, and Montréal blew a 2-0 lead at home to LAFC.
