Mbappé's goal in El Clásico could break a record held since 1993

Despite Real Madrid being on the verge of a trophyless season, the campaign is shaping up well for the club’s new star, Kylian Mbappé. In fact, the Frenchman is on the cusp of shattering a Real Madrid record that has stood for more than three decades.
Details: Mbappé is close to becoming the most prolific Real Madrid player in his debut season. The benchmark was set back in 1993 by Chilean striker Iván Zamorano, who netted 37 goals during his first year with Los Blancos.
Mbappé trails that tally by just one goal, and with several matches still to play, he has ample opportunity to chase down this milestone. Scoring in El Clásico would be ideal—not only to edge closer to the record, but also to stay in the hunt for the Pichichi Trophy. However, Real Madrid’s defense will need to be on high alert to contain Robert Lewandowski, who currently leads the La Liga scoring charts.
Reminder: The Polish striker might not feature in El Clásico, as he has only just recovered from injury and Barcelona’s head coach has decided to rest him, leaving him on the bench.
