Manchester United has extended the contract of veteran goalkeeper Tom Heaton. The 38-year-old shot-stopper has signed a new one-year deal with the “Red Devils.”

A product of United's academy, Heaton is in his second stint with the club, having rejoined in 2021.

"I’m delighted to continue my stay at the club of my childhood. I still feel in great shape and ready to give the team everything needed throughout the upcoming season. Besides playing, I am also learning a lot on the pitch for my future steps, whatever they may be. But above all, I want to push the team to build on our successes from last season," Heaton told the club’s media.

Returning to the club in 2021, Heaton finally made his first-team debut in the same year, playing against Young Boys in the UEFA Champions League. He also featured in the League Cup victories over Charlton Athletic and Nottingham Forest, keeping clean sheets on both occasions, on the way to winning the trophy in 2023.

The 38-year-old is currently with the England squad in Germany, helping the team prepare for their quarter-final clash with Switzerland on Saturday.

Previously, it was reported that Manchester United had initiated talks about the transfer of Dutch defender from Bayern Munich.
