Manchester United defender stood up for his teammate and the player of England

In the recent Premier League fixture, Manchester United suffered another defeat in this season, this time against Newcastle (0-1).
The star forward of the Red Devils and the English national team, Marcus Rashford, immediately faced a torrent of criticism as he committed a total of 11 errors in the match. In the eyes of the fans, he was deemed responsible for the team's loss.
Despite his underwhelming performance at St. James' Park, former club captain Harry Maguire stepped up to defend his teammate. He mentioned that Rashford is going through a challenging phase after his remarkable previous season. Addressing reporters after the match, the defender said:
"Marcus had an incredible previous season. This year, he's not content with himself. But he's putting in a lot of work. Everyone in the dressing room understands what he's going through.
It's been a tough week: three away matches in six days. Frankly, in the first half, we looked exactly like a team playing their third away match in six days. There was no pace, no intensity. They were far superior to us. We grew into the game, but it wasn't enough."
United's coach, Erik ten Hag, declined to publicly discuss his forward's performance, expressing his preference to have a private conversation with the player after the match.
Following Rashford's stellar performance in the previous season, where he scored 17 goals in the Premier League and played a crucial role in his team's top-four finish, the 26-year-old footballer is currently striving to find form in the ongoing campaign, managing to score only two goals across all competitions so far.
