Krunoslav Jurcic's Controversial Remarks After Pyramids’ 0-0 Draw with Pirates

Pyramids FC head coach Krunoslav Jurcic could be facing disciplinary action from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) after a fiery post-match interview following his team's 0-0 draw against Orlando Pirates in the CAF Champions League semi-final first leg on Saturday, April 19.
Jurcic's Officiating Fury
The Croatian coach was visibly upset with the officiating during the game, particularly with two disallowed goals. The first was ruled offside in the first half, while the second, a header by Sodiq Awujoola, was overturned by VAR for handball.
His frustration boiled over in a post-match interview when he boldly declared:
“I love Africa but not today. For me, we won 2-0.”
Jurcic’s remarks, which have been interpreted as undermining CAF’s officiating, could lead to a potential touchline ban for the crucial second leg in Cairo on April 25.
Defending His Players, Slamming VAR
Despite his anger over the officiating, Jurcic took time to praise his team’s performance. He said:
“I’m proud of the team. They were warriors tonight. We deserved to win. It’s not easy to score 2 goals away from home and see both cancelled. We’ll fight in Cairo.”
He also warned against underestimating Orlando Pirates, pointing to their impressive victories over Al Ahly and in Algeria during the quarter-finals.
CAF’s Disciplinary Response
Jurcic’s comments and protests could see him hauled before CAF’s disciplinary committee. If found guilty, he could be banned from the touchline for the decisive second leg in Cairo, a match that could define Pyramids FC's continental aspirations.
