Today, Bayern Munich played their first official match under the guidance of new head coach Vincent Kompany, and it proved to be a resounding success.
In the DFB-Pokal Round of 64, Germany's most decorated club comfortably dispatched 2. Bundesliga side Ulm.
Bayern effectively settled the outcome early on, thanks to the brilliance of the legendary Thomas Müller. In the 12th minute, he capitalized on a series of deflections in the penalty area, and just three minutes later, he tapped into an empty net following a low cross from Serge Gnabry.
In the 79th minute, Bayern's third goal came courtesy of Kingsley Coman, who slotted home from close range after a precise assist from the team's newcomer, Michael Olise.
Hoffenheim, Mainz, and St. Pauli also advanced to the next round of the DFB-Pokal today.
It’s worth noting that the current holders of the DFB-Pokal are Bayer Leverkusen. Last season, Bayern were sensationally eliminated in the second round by Saarbrücken.
