Details: According to GeGlobo, 41-year-old Brazilian goalkeeper Bruno Fernandes, who in 2010 was sentenced to 22 years in prison for the murder of his girlfriend, is set to start tomorrow for Vasco Da Gama in their Copa do Brasil clash against Velo Clube.
This will be Fernandes' first official professional match since his incarceration. He is on parole, which allows him to play professional football.
Bruno Fernandes came up through the Atlético Mineiro academy but rose to fame playing for Flamengo from 2006 to 2010, where he served as team captain.
In 2013, a Brazilian court found Fernandes guilty of murdering and kidnapping his girlfriend, who had demanded child support from him. Fernandes first killed the woman, then dismembered her body—feeding some parts to dogs and encasing the rest in concrete.
Fernandes signed with Vasco Da Gama just a few days ago, having proven he is no longer considered a threat to society.
