The United States national team failed in their home Copa America, losing to Panama and failing to advance to the playoffs. This outcome prompted changes in the coaching staff of the USMNT.
According to The Independent, the Americans have approached former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp. They have offered the German coach a return to work with a lighter workload than in club football. Klopp could lead the USA to the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
"I want to thank Greg for his tireless work and dedication to American soccer and our men’s national team. Right now, we are focused on working with our sporting director Matt Crocker and leveraging his experience at the highest levels of sport to ensure we have found the right person to lead the USMNT into a new era of success on the field," stated U.S. Soccer president Cindy Parlow Cone.
Currently, Jurgen Klopp is enjoying his break, but further discussions between the parties are possible.
