Canada striker Jonathan David has achieved a historic milestone at the World Cup.
Details: The forward became only the third player representing a CONCACAF nation to score multiple goals in the first half of a World Cup match.
According to Opta, this feat had previously only been accomplished by Folarin Balogun in 2026 and Bert Patenaude back in 1930.
David netted twice against Qatar, with both goals coming before the break. His clinical finishing helped Canada quickly build a comfortable lead and take full control of the match.
This achievement is yet another testament to the striker’s electrifying form and the potency of Canada’s attack at World Cup 2026.
Reminder: Earlier, we reported that Canada became the first team outside Europe and South America to score five or more goals in a single World Cup match.
