Hannover 96 midfielder Enzo Leopold announced on Instagram a charity auction aimed at raising funds for research into amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a disease that claimed his father’s life five years ago.
To support this cause, Leopold has put two Hannover 96 jerseys up for auction. All proceeds will go to the Charité Berlin research center. Additionally, the footballer pledged to personally match the two highest bids, doubling the contribution to Charité Berlin. The auction will run until December 31, 2024.
This is not the first time Leopold has initiated such an effort. Last year, the highest bids in a similar auction raised €4,000, and Leopold hopes to surpass that amount this time.
"Since my family and I have experienced firsthand what ALS does to a healthy person, I want to contribute again to ensure this disease is better researched. Hopefully, in the future, the world will find ways to treat it," Leopold shared.
