FIFA accused of negligence in monitoring human rights compliance in Saudi Arabia

For more than a decade and a half, ever since the World Cup in South Africa, FIFA has faced mounting pressure from human rights advocates over violations at venues constructed by host nations. And the upcoming World Cup in Saudi Arabia is no exception.
Details: Human rights organizations FairSquare and Human Rights Watch have accused FIFA of negligence regarding its responsibilities to oversee human rights compliance—obligations the organization itself has committed to. These allegations are based on the recent deaths of 48 workers from Bangladesh, India, and Nepal.
The HRW report features accounts of workers who lost their lives in horrific accidents, as well as those who died from heat exhaustion. The families of these victims are often left in the dark about the true circumstances of their loved ones' deaths, and frequently face long delays in the repatriation of bodies or in receiving any financial compensation.
Reminder: Earlier reports stated that FIFA plans to hold the World Cup finals draw in Las Vegas, but everything could change due to U.S. President Donald Trump.
