A blow for Senegalese midfielder Habib Diarra at Sunderland
Having picked up the injury last weekend during his team’s 1-0 Premier League victory over Fulham, the Senegal international is set to be sidelined for an extended period.
According to Sunderland head coach Régis Le Bris, Habib Diarra has suffered a hamstring injury. The French manager has announced that the Senegalese midfielder is expected to be out for 6 to 8 weeks.
“Habib is out for about 6-8 weeks which is a shame after the impact he made against Fulham.”
“It’s frustrating, but we have to manage it and we will find solutions.”
This injury is a major setback for Habib Diarra. The Senegalese player had already made a big impression in the victory over Fulham by providing an assist.
For Senegal, Diarra’s injury comes at a bad time. The Lions of Teranga are preparing for the first two matchdays of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
