700 appearances in his career! Henderson reaches milestone against the club where he began his journey
Jordan Henderson is making his 700th appearance at senior club level. The landmark moment came in the 10th round of the English Premier League, as Chelsea faced Sunderland.
As Opta reports, the milestone was especially symbolic. The Englishman made his professional debut 18 years and seven days ago — on November 1, 2008. At the time, he represented Sunderland and took to the field in a match against Chelsea.
Now Henderson has come up against his former club once again, but this time in the colors of the London side. As a result, Chelsea and Sunderland were the opponents in both his debut and his 700th senior club appearance.
Over the years, the 36-year-old has played for Sunderland, Liverpool, Al-Ettifaq, Ajax, Brentford and Chelsea. His spell at Liverpool was particularly successful, as he captained the team and won both the Champions League and the English Premier League.
