English lower-league football is mourning the tragic and premature passing of a former professional winger.

Details: York City have officially announced with profound sadness the passing of their former player David McDermott at the age of 38. The club expressed its heartfelt condolences, offering total love and support to McDermott's family, close friends, and relatives during this exceptionally painful time.

McDermott represented the Minstermen between 2010 and 2012, making 21 competitive appearances and scoring one memorable goal for the club during his two-year spell at Bootham Crescent.

The former Walsall academy graduate spent his entire professional playing career across the English football pyramid, later featuring for non-league outfits including Kidderminster Harriers, AFC Telford United, and Stourbridge.

It is worth noting that McDermott came through the youth ranks at Walsall, where he made his English Football League debut in 2007 before taking on challenges in non-league management and coaching.
