Tunisia began their FIFA World Cup campaign with a 5-1 defeat, but that is not the only major development surrounding the team. The federation dismissed the head coach immediately after the loss and has already identified his replacement.
Details: According to Romain Molina, Hervé Renard will become Tunisia’s new manager. In addition, the federation has presented the experienced coach with a broader long-term project that extends beyond the World Cup, offering him a number of guarantees.
Renard will now take charge of his fifth African national team, having previously coached Zambia, Angola, Ivory Coast, and Morocco.
Tunisia’s next match is scheduled against Japan on the morning of June 21, followed by a clash with the Netherlands on June 26.
Meanwhile, Spain and Cape Verde played out a 0-0 draw in their opening Group Stage match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the African nation matching yet another historic record.
As a reminder: Egypt faced Belgium in their first Group Stage fixture at the FIFA World Cup, where the Pharaohs’ biggest star equalled a remarkable achievement.
