The FIFA World Cup clash between Uruguay and Saudi Arabia will be remembered not only for the action on the pitch but also for the unusual uniforms worn by the match officials.

Details: The refereeing team took to the field wearing pink kits. According to The Athletic, the design was chosen as a tribute to the host city of Miami.

It was created as a nod to the city’s historically widespread flamingo population, its iconic pink sunsets, and the famous pink Art Deco buildings that line Ocean Drive in South Beach.

All FIFA referees based and training at Miami Dade College also wear pink training apparel.

As a reminder: Uruguay faced Saudi Arabia in their opening match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where the South American side’s goalkeeper etched his name into the history books.
