Court delivers final verdict in Liverpool parade fan incident: perpetrator sentenced to 21.5 years in prison

Details: Merseyside Police state that Paul Doyle, responsible for the vehicle attack on Liverpool fans during the club's victory parade, has been sentenced to 21 years and 6 months in prison. The verdict was delivered at Liverpool Crown Court.
To recap, the incident took place on Monday, May 26, when thousands took to the city streets to celebrate Liverpool's title. What was meant to be a day of joy turned into a tragedy as Doyle drove his car into a crowd of fans, injuring more than 100 people. According to law enforcement, it was only by sheer luck that there were no fatalities.
The investigation determined that Doyle's actions were extremely dangerous and aggressive. The case files include video footage of his driving prior to arriving at Water Street, dashcam audio, and scenes from his arrest.
The investigation became one of the largest in the region's police history:
- assistance was provided to 134 victims,
- over 1,500 witnesses were interviewed,
- more than 700 testimonies were collected.
More than 70 police officers participated, along with units from neighboring regions.
Doyle pleaded guilty to 31 charges, after which the court handed down a lengthy prison term. Authorities noted that many victims are still recovering and expressed their support.
