From Anfield to San Siro! Curtis Jones officially becomes an Inter player
Inter have completed their third English raid of the summer, and this one hurts Liverpool the most.
Details: Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the official story: Curtis Jones joins Inter from Liverpool for €30 million plus €5 million in add-ons, with the Reds also securing a sell-on clause. The 25-year-old has signed a five-year contract in Milan.
Jones leaves the club he joined at the age of nine, having played 228 times for Liverpool, scoring 22 goals and winning two Premier League titles, the FA Cup, the League Cup and the Club World Cup. The midfielder, capped six times by England, becomes the third England international to join Inter in this window after John Stones and Djed Spence.
Liverpool had rejected a €25 million offer in June and held out for more, but with Jones entering the final year of his contract, the 10 percent sell-on clause softens the blow for Andoni Iraola's side. It's worth noting that the €35 million package is a record sale for a Liverpool academy graduate who never fully nailed down a starting spot.
Reminder: 30 million or nothing! Inter lays down tough terms for Roma over Brazilian winger.
