The transfer of Jadon Sancho to Chelsea may take an unexpected turn.
Details: The London club is obliged to purchase the winger for £22-25 million if Chelsea finishes 14th or higher in the Premier League, which now seems inevitable. However, according to the Daily Mail, the club might back out of the deal, sending the player back to Manchester United, which would inevitably lead to financial losses.
Chelsea is actively seeking alternatives for the attacking flank, considering potential options like Betis's Jesús Rodríguez. The situation is complicated by the lack of a long-term contract agreement with Sancho, which may prompt a renegotiation of the deal.
For Manchester United, Sancho's return would be problematic: the club is still paying off the remainder of the £73 million transfer from Borussia Dortmund, and the player's £250,000-a-week salary is quite a financial burden. If Chelsea does not buy out the contract, the Red Devils will be forced to find a new buyer to offload the valuable yet now redundant asset.
Reminder: It was previously reported about Chelsea's interest in Jobe Bellingham, who plays for Sunderland.
