Norwegian forward Andreas Schjelderup, currently playing for Benfica, has been charged in Denmark with distributing sexually explicit video material involving minors.

Details: The incident took place about two years ago, when the player was still with Danish club Nordsjælland. At that time, he forwarded an illegal video featuring minors to a friend.

Schjelderup confirmed these events in a statement on Instagram, expressing remorse and emphasizing his readiness to accept any punishment imposed by the authorities:

“I deeply regret my actions and will accept whatever punishment the authorities decide to impose,” the footballer wrote.

The athlete had already admitted to sending the video to a friend without realizing its content, only later understanding that it was illegal.

“I received a short video and forwarded it to a friend without thinking. I only watched the first few seconds and didn't realize what it was about. Later, my friend reminded me that this was obviously illegal, and I immediately deleted the video,” Schjelderup wrote.

Benfica president Rui Costa expressed his support for the player, stating that the club would stand by him:

“Of course, we will support him. He has admitted his guilt and understood that he did something wrong. Knowing Andreas, I am sure he had no malicious intent, but a mistake was made.”

Reminder: Rui Costa has been re-elected as Benfica president.
