Auzmendi Trains with Banfield After Leaving Motagua for Argentine First Division

Rodrigo Auzmendi is officially part of Banfield and has already joined training sessions under head coach Pedro Troglio. As reported by Deportes TVC, the 24-year-old Argentine striker arrives after activating his release clause with Honduran club Motagua, signing a deal through December 2026.
“I'm a forward who likes to stay in the box and wait for the chance,” Auzmendi introduced himself in a video released by Banfield. The tall striker was seen undergoing strength and conditioning drills as he integrated with his new teammates in Argentina's top flight.
Auzmendi arrives after a standout season in Honduras, where he scored 23 goals in 42 matches and helped Motagua capture both a league title and a golden boot.
Banfield confirmed his signing on their official site, stating they are now working to register him as soon as the transfer window opens. “Welcome, Rodrigo!” read the club’s announcement.
So far, Motagua has not issued a formal statement on the departure of Auzmendi, who is also the brother of Agustín Auzmendi. Meanwhile, Rodrigo has already turned the page and is focused on making an impact in his home country’s premier league.
