Barcelona vs Copenhagen prediction, H2H and probable lineups - 28 January 2025
One of the fixtures of Matchday 8 in the 2025/26 Champions League group stage will take place this Wednesday at the legendary Camp Nou in Barcelona, where the local giants Barcelona will host Danish side Copenhagen. I’m backing a bet on goals in this clash, with a promising chance for success.
Match preview
Barcelona head into this match in superb form. The Catalans have racked up 13 wins in their last 14 outings, with their only defeat coming in La Liga against Real Sociedad (1-2). That slip, however, did not derail the team: since then, the Blaugrana confidently beat Slavia Prague in the Champions League (4-2) and Real Oviedo in the Spanish league (3-0).
In the Champions League, Barcelona are not yet in the top eight, but a victory over Copenhagen should see them advance directly to the round of 16. Along the way, the Catalans have faced their share of tough matches: defeats to PSG (1-2) and Chelsea (0-3), as well as a dramatic draw against Club Brugge (3-3), where the Belgians could have snatched a win, but their goal was disallowed in the dying seconds.
An added layer of intrigue comes from the possible appearance of Roony Bardghji. The Barcelona winger joined from Copenhagen in the summer for €2.5 million and will surely be highly motivated to impress against his former club. He’ll likely start on the bench, but a cameo during the match seems very probable.
Copenhagen, meanwhile, are still fighting for a place in the top 24. The Danes currently sit 26th, and only a win against Barcelona will keep their playoff hopes alive. Their start to the tournament was extremely poor: just one point from the first four rounds, courtesy of a draw with Bayer Leverkusen.
However, things have improved dramatically in their last three outings—Copenhagen have picked up 7 out of a possible 9 points. They defeated Kazakhstan’s Kairat and Spain’s Villarreal (both 3-2), and in the last round, despite being down to ten men, managed a dramatic home draw against Napoli (1-1). Jordan Larsson scored the crucial penalty in the dying minutes. In that match, Thomas Delaney received a straight red card and will definitely miss the clash against the Blaugrana—a significant loss for Jacob Neestrup’s side.

Prediction
I believe we’re in for a goal-fest in this match. Barcelona games tend to feature plenty of goals, especially lately: they create a lot themselves but also allow their opponents chances. With that in mind, my prediction for this match is over 3 total goals.
