Details: According to Fabrizio Romano, AC Milan have informed Tomori and his agents of the decision to re-integrate the defender into the squad, and he will be back working under Rúben Amorim this week, as Sky reports. The Englishman had been told he was not in the coach's plans and was even left off the list for the season.
The turnaround caps one of the strangest sagas of this window. Tomori, 28, spent the summer in Amorim's so-called bomb squad alongside Christopher Nkunku, with owner Gerry Cardinale even prepared to pay the outcasts' wages without integrating them. Fulham made a late deadline day move that the defender considered, but nothing could be closed in the final hours, and he had already rejected three offers. Now, with the Italian window shut, Milan have chosen pragmatism over pride. Tomori, under contract until June 2027, made 33 Serie A appearances last season and is valued at €17 million by Transfermarkt, numbers far too useful to leave gathering dust. It also closes a painful year on a brighter note: the former Chelsea man was left out of England's World Cup squad in May and lost his club place soon after.
It's worth noting that Tomori's two fellow exiles have now found resolutions of their own: Santiago Giménez joined Deportivo La Coruna on loan, while Youssouf Fofana's move to Lyon collapsed in the final minutes.
