Tolentino is accused of paying Real Betis player Luiz Henrique to deliberately receive yellow cards in two La Liga matches in January and February 2023. Following these incidents, Henrique allegedly received two separate payments of approximately €6,000 each.
The recommendation to indict Tolentino is based on Article 199 of Brazil's General Sports Law, which prohibits offering or promising financial or non-financial benefits to alter or manipulate the outcome of a sporting event. If convicted, he could face between two and six years in prison.
Meanwhile, Lucas Paquetá himself remains under investigation for alleged involvement in suspicious betting activity. Despite denying any wrongdoing, the West Ham star risks a lifetime ban from football if found guilty.
