Long-awaited homecoming! Star German striker joins Bundesliga club
The return that Bremen fans have longed for is finally becoming a reality.
Details: 33-year-old German striker Niclas Füllkrug is heading back to Werder. The Bremen club has reached a full agreement with West Ham United for the striker to join on loan until the end of the season, with no option to buy. The player is set to fly to Germany today for a medical examination scheduled for Tuesday, after which the move will be officially announced.
According to journalists Patrick Berger and Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sport Germany, the German forward was so determined to return to his boyhood club that he agreed to a significant pay cut to make the deal happen.
It's worth noting that in the second half of the 2025/26 season, Niclas Füllkrug was on loan at Italian side Milan, making 20 appearances across all competitions and scoring once. According to the authoritative portal Transfermarkt, the current market value of the 33-year-old striker is 3.5 million euros.
