Legendary goalkeeper of London's Chelsea and the Czech national football team, Petr Čech, made his debut in the British Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL). Thus, the 41-year-old athlete became the first to have played in England's top division in both football and hockey.

Despite this being Čech's third appearance with the Belfast Giants, yesterday marked his first time stepping onto the ice. During the third period, he replaced the team's starting goalkeeper, Tyler Beskorowany, and his team secured a 5-1 victory against the Glasgow Clan. Čech made one save during the game.

Belfast Giants marks the fourth hockey club in the career of the former goalkeeper for football clubs Chelsea and Arsenal. Prior to this, Čech also played for the Guildford Phoenix, Chelmsford Chieftains, and Oxford City Stars.

It's worth noting that Čech holds the record for the most clean sheets in the English Premier League. During his time at Chelsea, the former player appeared in 494 matches across all competitions. With London's Arsenal, Čech played in 139 matches. The goalkeeper concluded his football career in 2019.
