Vicente Sánchez Avoids Future Talk After Cruz Azul’s Latest Playoff Exit

Once again, Cruz Azul saw their Liga MX title hopes dashed by rivals América. After a tense Clausura 2025 semifinal, the club was eliminated, continuing a painful trend in recent years. As reported by Marca, head coach Vicente Sánchez chose not to address questions about his future, instead urging focus on the upcoming Concacaf Champions League final.
“We’re sad, very hurt. We aimed to fight for both tournaments,” said Sánchez. He praised his squad’s effort and refused to single out goalkeeper Kevin Mier, whose costly error led to América’s comeback. “We win as a team, and we lose as a team,” he emphasized.
When asked directly about whether the result affects his future with the club, Sánchez sidestepped the question: “It’s too soon. These games are decided by small details.” He closed by thanking the players, their families, and the fans for their support throughout the campaign.
Despite the disappointment, Cruz Azul remains in contention for international silverware. With one final on the horizon, Sánchez must now regroup and guide the team toward redemption.
