BREAKING! Sinner suspended from tennis for three months

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner will be out of tennis for three months after agreeing to an immediate suspension as part of an agreement with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
Details: According to a WADA press release, the agency accepted Sinner’s explanation that the banned substance clostebol entered his system due to an error by his physiotherapist.
However, under current regulations, athletes are held responsible for the negligence of their entourage, making a three-month suspension an appropriate resolution.
The suspension will be in effect from February 9 to May 4, meaning Sinner will be eligible to compete in the next Grand Slam tournament—Roland Garros, which begins on May 19.
WADA also withdrew its appeal against the ITIA decision, which was due to be heard at the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne on 16 April.
Reminder: In March 2024, Sinner tested positive for clostebol in two doping tests. The substance, commonly used for muscle growth, was found at low levels. The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) ruled that the banned substance entered his body accidentally, declaring him not guilty of intentional doping.
