Less than a week remains until El Clasico in the Copa del Rey final of the 2024/25 season, and the name of the referee who will officiate this match has been announced.

Details: The Spanish Football Federation has appointed Ricardo De Burgos Bengoetxea for this match.

This 39-year-old referee has never officiated an El Clasico in La Liga before, but he has twice refereed matches between Real Madrid and Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup. In the 2017/18 season, he officiated the game which the Madrid team won 3-1, and in the 2020/21 season, the Catalans triumphed with the same score.

This season, Bengoetxea has officiated three Barcelona matches: 4-2 and 1-2 against Atletico, as well as 5-1 against Sevilla. He crossed paths with Real Madrid only once this season – a 3-0 victory over Mallorca in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final.

The Copa del Rey final will take place in Seville on Saturday, April 26.

Reminder: Due to injury, Barcelona's top scorer Robert Lewandowski will miss the match against Real Madrid. Read more.
