Manchester City's holding midfielder Kalvin Phillips is close to moving to Juventus.

According to journalist Marco Conterio, the midfielder has given his fundamental agreement to join the Turin club on a loan basis. It's noted that discussions are ongoing between the parties regarding the finer points of the player's personal contract.

Earlier reports indicated that Phillips wished to depart from Manchester City due to dissatisfaction with his playing time at the club. There were also indications that the club had already identified a replacement for him. Among the contenders for the player, Manchester United and Newcastle have also been named.

The 28-year-old Phillips moved to his current club in the summer of 2022, with the Citizens paying around €50 million to Leeds United.

Since then, the England international has played only 30 matches for the Sky Blues across all competitions, scoring one goal. In the current season, the midfielder has spent 306 minutes on the field across nine matches.

Juventus currently holds the second position in the Serie A table. The Old Lady trails Inter by one point, having played one more match.

Earlier reports suggested that the Bianconeri were preparing an offer to Manchester United for the purchase of two players.
