It is well known that footballers love a sharp word for referees, but referees themselves sometimes don't pick up on the players' expressions and get into trouble for it too.
According to Corriere della Sera, Italian referee Fabio Maresca got into a verbal altercation with Al-Arabi player Khaled Al-Mershed during a Kuwait Premier League match between Kuwait and Al-Arabi. The referee allegedly uttered the words ‘see you next time’, but there are also claims that Maresca threatened to kill Al-Mershed next time.
The referee's home country reacted to the incident by suspending him for a month. Disqualification applies not only to Serie A, but also to matches of the Champions League and other possible competitions.
Recall, earlier the FA of England penalised Southampton defender Jack Stephens for swearing at the referee in the match with Manchester United.
