The 2024 Olympic Games officially begin on Friday, July 26, but records are already being set. The first world record occurred during the qualification round of the women's individual archery tournament.

South Korean athlete Lim Si-hyeon finished the competition with a score of 692 points. The archery qualification consists of 12 series of six shots, with a maximum of ten points per shot.

Si-hyeon set this record thanks to a high number of tens (48, of which 21 were inner tens). Moreover, she completed one of the shooting series with a perfect score of 60 points.

The previous world record was held by another South Korean, Kang Chae-young, with a score of 690 points, set five years ago. Additionally, Si-hyeon broke the Olympic record of 680 points, which was held by An San from the previous Tokyo Games.

It is worth mentioning that this Olympics not only witnessed the first world record but also its first scandal. During a football tournament match, fans caused a disturbance in the stands.
