Ethiopia Officially Submits Bid to Host 2028 Africa Cup of Nations
The Ethiopian Football Federation (EFF) has officially submitted its bid to host the 2028 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
In a statement released on Monday, the EFF confirmed that it had presented its official Bid Handbook and supporting documents to the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The federation said its bid is fully backed by the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) government, which has pledged to provide all the necessary guarantees and support required to host Africa’s biggest football tournament.
According to the EFF, the bid addresses all of CAF’s hosting requirements and demonstrates Ethiopia’s readiness to welcome the continent’s top national teams for AFCON 2028.
Ethiopia has previous experience of hosting the Africa Cup of Nations, having staged the tournament three times in 1962, 1968 and 1976.
