The future of Marc Casado at the Catalan giants appears all but decided.

Details: According to the reputable outlet The Guardian, citing Mundo Deportivo, England’s Sunderland has confidently entered the race for Barcelona’s defensive midfielder Marc Casado and is currently negotiating his transfer.

The 22-year-old does not figure in the long-term plans of the Blaugrana's head coach Hansi Flick and is expected to make a decision about his future in the coming days. The midfielder himself is firmly prioritizing a continuation of his career in European football, despite financially tempting offers from Saudi Arabia.

Initially, Nottingham Forest was considered the main contender to sign the Barcelona academy product, but Sunderland intends to outpace their Premier League rivals and seal the deal soon.

It’s worth noting that in the 2025/26 season, Marc Casado made 24 La Liga appearances for Barcelona, providing one assist, and also featured in six Champions League matches. The respected portal Transfermarkt values the 22-year-old Spanish holding midfielder at €18 million, with his current contract running until the summer of 2028.
