The Czech national team became world hockey champions for the first time in 14 years.

In the final match, the tournament hosts faced the Swiss national team on the ice. The Czechs were the favorites in this matchup, but the Swiss team had already shown they couldn't be underestimated by defeating the formidable Canadian team in the semifinals yesterday.

This game did not treat fans to a high-scoring affair, with the outcome decided by an accurate shot from Boston Bruins forward David Pastrnak. The Czechs sealed their victory with a second goal into an empty net.

This victory marks the first world championship win for the Czechs since 2010. It is their seventh title in history, or the 13th if including the victories of Czechoslovakia.

Additionally, the bronze medals were claimed by the Swedish national team. The Scandinavians had a strong second half in the final period, achieving a 4:2 victory over Canada.
