Details: Today it was announced that the Swiss Football Federation has decided to postpone the traditional annual football awards ceremony due to the recent tragedy of the fire in Crans-Montana, which claimed 40 lives and injured 116 people.
The ceremony was scheduled to take place in the city of Bern on January 12, but the federation stated that now is not the time for such events. At this "Swiss Football Night" ceremony, awards are usually presented to the best players of the men's and women's national teams and national leagues.
Another major Swiss sports event, the "Swiss Sports Awards," which was set for this Sunday, has also been postponed indefinitely.
On the night of December 31, 2025, to January 1, 2026, a devastating fire broke out at La Constellation bar, located in the popular Swiss resort of Crans-Montana. The blaze resulted in the deaths of 40 people, with 116 suffering severe injuries and burns. Among the injured and deceased are many young athletes, and Swiss police have launched an investigation into the tragedy.
