The Spanish Super Cup kicks off next week, featuring La Liga champions and Copa del Rey holders Barcelona, Copa finalist Real Madrid, as well as Athletic Bilbao and Atlético Madrid.
The tournament's total revenue for the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) is estimated at €52 million. According to Sport, this figure includes €27 million from sponsorship deals, €11 million from broadcasting rights, €10 million for organizational services, and around €3 million covering teams' travel and accommodation. The prize pool for the four participants has been raised this season from €20 million to €23 million.
Last season, both Barcelona and Real Madrid received €6 million each as a fixed participation fee. Additional bonuses were awarded: €1.15 million for reaching the final and €3 million for winning the tournament. In the end, the Catalans pocketed around €9 million, while the Madrid side earned €7.15 million.
With the overall prize pot growing, it is expected that a Barcelona or Real Madrid victory this year could see their earnings approach the €10 million mark. Should Atlético or Athletic lift the trophy, their estimated prize money would be roughly half that amount.
