The Spanish Super Cup semi-final between Barcelona and Athletic got off to a flying start with Fermín López delivering a pinpoint assist to Ferran Torres, who opened the scoring. Just eight minutes later, it was López himself who found the net after a pass from Raphinha, doubling Barcelona’s advantage. With this performance, Fermín López etched his name into the history of the tournament.
Details: According to Opta, at 22 years and 241 days old, Fermín López became the second youngest player ever to both score and provide an assist in the history of the competition.
The first to achieve this milestone was his teammate Gavi, who, in 2025, scored and assisted in a semi-final against Athletic at the age of 20 years and 156 days.
It’s worth noting that Barcelona were simply on fire in the first half, leading Athletic 4-0 at the break.
